Cecilia Gilbert, Advisory Council Member
Cecilia Gilbert has been a part of City government for 30 plus years. She has been with the Department of Public Works for the past fifteen years, as Permits and Communications Manager and most recently as Support for Business Liaison. In this new position she provides assistance to those businesses that are impacted by road construction projects. Before becoming a part of the Department of Public Works, she was with the Department of City Development, Marketing and Civic Development Section for 10 years.
Gilbert is a board member for Visit Milwaukee Convention Bureau and the Historic Pabst Mansion. She is chair for the Multicultural Tourism Advisory Committee, co-chair for the YWCA’s Circle of Women Event, host committee member for Black Public Relations Society 2011 National Convention, member and former board member of Black Public Relations Society , chairwoman for the 2008 Alverno Inferno Online Radio Initiative Fundraiser, audience development committee chair & board of trustees for the Milwaukee Repertory Theater,
Gilbert has received the Downtown Cheerleader Award, from Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 in 2009 and the Standing Ovation Award from Visit Milwaukee in 2008. Gilbert has a bachelor of arts in community education and a bachelor of arts early childhood education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
