Xer of the Month - Sade Ojediran

Relocating to a new city, without family or friends is no easy task. It’s like hopping in a puddle and later discovering it was definitely a pond.  It takes courage and a good network of people to support and inspire you. This week, Social X MKE sat down with March Xer of the Month, Sade Ojediran to catch up and discuss her transition as a transplant in Milwaukee.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Sade was raised in a home rich with culture and tradition from her mother, who is a native of Chicago and her father, who is from Nigeria. Knowing the importance of education and hard work, Sade went on to attend the University of Illinois-Urbana Champagne to complete her undergraduate and law degrees. Sade worked in Chicago as an attorney for a few years and later received the opportunity to relocate and work for Kohn Law Firm here in Milwaukee.

Although her transition from a big city was a culture shock at first, Sade has since found enjoyment in attending Social X MKE events. Her favorites so far have been The Wind Down, which is where she first became familiar with Social X after hearing about us from a friend, The Brunch Xperience, Homecoming Week, and Vanity Fair.

“There’s a ton of opportunities like Social X to really put you in spaces with other like-minded young Black professionals. I think it is a great place to be for black millennials!”

Sade also enjoys relaxing with a glass of her favorite Chardonnay, reading (she’s currently finishing the book, “Becoming” by Michelle Obama), visiting local hotspots, such as Brownstone Social Lounge, and hitting the gym in her free time.
