Whether you’re at the lakefront, theater, park, or ​​on a rooftop… We all know that summers in Milwaukee are lit! All week, Black & Brown professionals will explore the city while engaging in professional development, health & wellness, arts & culture, networking, and community impact.

The Meet-Up @ Milwaukee Night Market

Grab a friend and explore Milwaukee Night Market, a free, outdoor event featuring food vendors, live art creation, local music and a beer garden. This event turns the heart of downtown into an exciting fusion of all the city has to offer. We want all Xers to swing by our tent #23 (near AMFAM booth) for Summerfest tickets and Social X MKE Swag!

Juice: 30th Anniversary Screening
Thurs. June 16 | 7pm - 9pm | Oriental Theatre, 2230 N. Farwell Ave.
Black Lens MKE is celebrating the  30th Anniversary of the classic black film, Juice. Four Harlem friends: Bishop, Q, Steel and Raheem dabble in petty crime. One day, they decide to go big by knocking off a convenience store; ​​Bishop is ready to score big, but Q has other aspirations. So, who really has the juice?

The first 50 to enter the theater will receive a custom limited edition T-shirt.

The Life & Times of Tupac Shakur: An Artistic Retrospective
Fri. June 17  | 8pm - 2am | Company Brewing, 735 E. Center St.
An exposition of Tupac Shakur’s music and films with former Source magazine Editor-in-Chief, Bakari Kitwana. This interactive experience includes contests such as “Tupac Trivia” and “Finish the Lyrics,” where audience members compete for prizes. Keep the vibe going and stay for the 90s/00s Hip-Hop after party with DJ Bizzon.

Run the Yard 5K
Sat. June 18 | 9am - 12pm | Urban Ecology Center, 3600 W. Pierce St.
Join Social X MKE’s run crew FEAR MKE (Forget Everything and Run) for the 5th annual Run the Yard 5K. FEAR is a diverse run crew focused on bridging the fitness gap in Milwaukee through running and in turn, building relationships with others. After the run enjoy a block party with refreshments, giveaways, and music by DJ Lolo.

Neon Dreams: Late Nights & Black Lights

Close your eyes and slip into this fluorescent fantasy. Neon Dreams will be a night of vibrant fashion and summertime vibes with Milwaukee's flyest. Enjoy the 360° penthouse view of Downtown Milwaukee as you turn up with DJ Gemini Gilly under the black-lights.

The Give Back @ Juneteenth
Sun.  June 19 | Juneteenth Day Volunteering
Shifts available: 10am - 2pm and 2pm - 6pm
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. between W. Burleigh St. and W. Center St.
While it is a day that recognizes the past, it is also a day that looks toward a progressive future. This celebration includes food, speakers, live music, and, of course, one of the largest Juneteenth parades in the country. Help us celebrate this day by committing to a volunteer for a 4hr shift. Duties include: event set-up & tear down, customer service, kid-zone supervisors, and crowd control.

NOTE: Volunteers must register by June 4, 2022 to schedule a volunteer session with Northcott Neighborhood House

Where do men of color go to share their thoughts and feelings, dreams and fears, career aspirations and professional insecurities? Where are the safe spaces for men of color to find acceptance and peace? Our panel will try to answer these and other timely questions concerning men’s emotional health through a public conversation about the journey to find or create solace in our lives.

Being & Thriving: Spaces for People of Color

Activating. Collaborating. Gathering. Placemaking. As people of color, having our own spaces to exist, create and thrive has been necessary for the advancement of our communities. Learn how our esteemed panelists are fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and more. Afterwards, explore the museum’s newest exhibits “Our Time Together” by Derrick Adams and “Always New” The Posters of Jules Chéret.

MKE Xpress Tour

This is a tour unlike any other. Let us show you another side of Milwaukee! Attendees will visit Milwaukee’s newest venues and get an intimate peek into the city’s most precious gems. At each stop, we will get an exclusive tour from a special guest. On the bus, attendees will enjoy trivia, refreshments, and giveaways.
